A house is only as strong as the foundation on which it is built. The same logic applies to a trade show booth display. Specifically, your trade show booth display design is only as strong and as solid as it's foundation. While a lot of people get caught up in wanting a dazzling, amazing, and incredible trade show display design, if you want your design and hence your trade show booth display to be EFFECTIVE, your trade show booth display design must have a solid "foundation", which consists of these three critical elements.

First, your trade show display design to grab peoples' attention. Understand that your trade show booth display is just one of hundreds of trade show booth displays at the show. You don't want to get lost and forgotten in the trade show crowd. Your design must distinguish your booth display from all the other booth displays. When people pass by your booth display, you've got to have a something to capture their attention. One reliable way of "getting noticed" is to have a catchy slogan, motto, or tag-line with a captivating background image (that relates to your trade show marketing message, of course)!

Second, your trade show booth display design must concisely communicate who you are and what you do. Your company name should be "front and center" in big bold letters (this is not the time for a "cool" or "hip" font). Under your company name, explain what your company does in one or two short phrases or sentences. If someone looks at your trade show booth display and can't answer who you are and what you do, you need to start over.

Third, your trade show booth display design needs to explain W.W.I.F.M. (what's in it for me, with "me" being your prospect and potential customer). This is by far the most important part of an effective trade show booth display design, and is the critical rebar for your foundation! People want to know how you can help them, which is why they'll either stop and talk to you, or just keep on walking. As an example, if you a web hosting company, you might want to mention your uptime performance record and reliability (which had better be good) and all the extra services you provide. No matter what, you must let people know how you can help them (remember your rebar!).

Once your trade show booth display design has incorporated these three critical elements, then you've created the all important design "foundation" which insures that your trade show booth display design is effective. Now you can concentrate on adding other elements to create the ultimate dazzling, amazing, and incredible trade show booth display design. That makes perfect sense! Many people work hard at traveling and doing shows from state to state selling various products. Obviously it makes good sense to start with a solid foundation and therefore a longer lasting trade show booth.
